There are many challenges in providing care to someone with dementia. During this session, we will focus on the common causes of challenging behaviors related not only to the disease process, but to the environment, nursing personnel, and visitors. We will explore how to understand the person’s reality and discuss the five main strategies to use when approaching and caring for someone with dementia.
This educational event will be presented by Betty Robison, MSN, RN-BC. Betty’s career spans 44 years with experience in care settings throughout the continuum. For the past 11 years she has worked at the Aging Institute of UPMC Senior Services and the University of Pittsburgh as the Gerontology Educator and as adjunct faculty at Chatham University.
